History of Touchscreen Smartphones

When it comes to smartphone and I am very critical and picky. Many of friends and relatives consult me before buying a smartphone. I am that fussy that I can even dislike a phone just because it is unable to provide an USP but a brand value to please others such price range. And I too believe others are so they choose as per their need. My money is always on Google Nexus phones as it’s an official android device with latest  stock vanilla latest android version that is always ready to get first updates. In recent years many Chinese companies have evolved and made phone of higher flagship range in half of its price tag. Indian market of youths and enthusiast appropriated that. Only a few are really amazing as most of them are quite disappointing and cheap phones.

In the year 2007 since the first apple iPhone was introduced it has a capacitive touchscreen for the first time in any mainstream smartphone. Although LG Prada phone was the first phone with capacitive touch. After that many companies have started selling their phones with linux platform called android, a project made by google for making smartphones and tablets just more like geeky version of apple iOS. Other big platforms like Palm, Symbian, Windows, Blackberry could not survive as per Charles Darwin theory.

Initially android was not that great, bit sluggish in every device, there were errors and issues involved unlike iOS that was quite simple and smoother than any other phone for normal daily usage. People were saying what a copy of iphone. But that remained since the end of 2011 when Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich was introduced. And here when I talk about android means their official hardware phone that is nexus. It was new refined platform but the maturity and smoothness comes more from Jelly Bean that lasted for couple of years.

It was the time apple CEO Steve Jobs passed away since then iOS has been struggling and trying to make something like Android with the roots of iOS. Now they made the phone bigger, made iOS 8 bit more complicated than ever before, which was against the views of Jobs. Majority of apps that are valuable are available in both the environments. And early adopters of apple iPhone started to move on. I am not saying apple iPhone is bad smartphone but overall good phone for someone who is more like don’t care about new technologies, best camera phone, technophobe, wants more simpler user interface or brand value specially here in India.

But since then both universes are just making the device more refined and beautiful, not much involvement of new features. There is no significant or drastic changes. Maybe because their no bunny to take advantage of cat fights between two giants. Exactly this is why they even have developed new stuffs, most probably by google Android team are new showing casing their aces on the table. Today iOS 9 and android marshmallow 6.0 are both great devices and in the end of the day it is just a phone with fancy multi-features.
